Executive Director for Professional Practice, (1986-1993) - Served as chief public spokesperson and strategist for professional psychology within field and to general public. Initiated and developed nationally-recognized advocacy program for professional psychology with responsibility for legal and regulatory affairs, federal lobbying, professional standards, public relations, state associations, and marketing. Program led to substantial expansion of psychological practice including recognition in Medicare, hospital practice, access to psychoanalytic training, expert witness testimony, and corporate use of psychological services. Staff of fifty. Budget of over five million dollars. Responsible for development and implementation of all aspects of psychology's campaign for inclusion in national health insurance and subsequent reform efforts.

Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, Chapel Hill, NC, - Provided over 30,000 clinical hours of diagnostic and therapeutic services for adults, adolescents, and families in wide range of clinical settings, including private outpatient practice, hospitals, prisons, courts, and vocational rehabilitation centers.


Academic Appointments

George Washington University Center for Professional Psychology, Washington, 1997-1999 - Assistant Professor of Psychology teaching courses in law and psychology and professional issues to doctoral students in clinical psychology.

Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Chapel Hill, NC, 1976-1980 - developed training program in crisis intervention, trained psychiatric residents and psychology interns. Taught courses in psychopathology, personality theory and group dynamics through University of North Carolina's Psychology Department.

Instructor in Communications and Director of Debate, Emerson College, Boston, Massachusetts, 1968-1970 - Taught courses in advocacy and communication and directed debate program.
